It is quite interesting like, human been really like 'sounds and music', the dispersion of the sound to give some 'similarity with a real event'. A real event cannot be produced with a device, I was thinking those days, 'surround' and other technologies can lead to illiteracy too or not? You disperse a sound that on theory it is not coupled with some visual event, even if you try.
You distribute the speakers around your room, good, then you create a screen of 40'' in front of you at like 2meters, the events on screen cannot be correlated with the sound 'distributed in a 3d space, because the visual event is flat. Another simple question of logic, and again 'good headphones' will be superior, even that cause a lot of headache (yes they cause).
Is it make any sense? Sure it is, it is an illusion for the masses based on pure physics ignorance, a car moves in a screen, then the sound passes behind you, it is not real, infect it is not even fun, it is an expensive illusion, so, 2 good speakers set at the side of the television is the correct, put all in a stereo illusion.
There is no surround like imagine the following image is not around, also usually 'music concerts' the real ones the source came from a giant flat wall of 'speakers', flat powerful, sonorific, 'it is not real too', just powerful, so extending the expansion of the prosody, if sound and image are illusion but powerful, power is powerful but an illusion too, so what really matters at end, 'work and money' then you go to the real events.
